Für Künstler*innen mit Schwerpunkt Keramik und OÖ-Bezug.

Das OÖ AIR AoCG x YCM Programm ist ein internationales Artist-in-Residence-Austauschformat zwischen Österreich und Taiwan, umgesetzt in Kooperation der OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH (OÖLKG), dem New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum (YCM) sowie Gmundner Keramik. Ziel ist die Förderung zeitgenössischer keramischer Praxis, künstlerischer Forschung und interkulturellen Austauschs. Künstler:innen mit Oberösterreich-Bezug erhalten die Möglichkeit, ihre Arbeit im Kontext einer international renommierten Keramikinstitution weiterzuentwickeln und neue Perspektiven zu gewinnen. Das Programm basiert auf einem bilateralen Kulturabkommen und versteht sich als Plattform für Produktion, Recherche, Vermittlung und Austausch im internationalen Kontext.

YINGGE CERAMICS MUSEUM (YCM)

Das YCM in New Taipei City ist Taiwans erstes Keramikmuseum und ein international bedeutendes Zentrum für Forschung, Vermittlung und zeitgenössische Keramikkultur. Mit dem angeschlossenen International Residency Center bietet es vollständig ausgestattete Arbeitsinfrastruktur (Ateliers, Werkstätten, Bildungsräume) und ermöglicht Einblicke in die traditionsreiche Keramikstadt Yingge, die als größtes Keramikzentrum Taiwans gilt.

Die Kosten für Unterkunft, Arbeitsplätze sowie Reisekosten werden im Rahmen des Programms übernommen. Ein während der Residency entstandenes Werk wird für Bildungszwecke an die Organisation YCM übergeben .

Das Programm richtet sich an bildende Künstler:innen, die freischaffend im Bereich Keramik tätig sind. Voraussetzung ist ein Oberösterreich-Bezug (Wohnsitz, Arbeitsort, Geburt oder vergleichbar enger Bezug). Erforderlich ist zudem eine abgeschlossene künstlerische Ausbildung (Hochschulstudium) oder eine gleichwertige künstlerische Qualifikation, nachgewiesen durch den Lebenslauf. Gesucht werden Projekte, die einen Bezug zum lokalen Kontext vor Ort herstellen.

Purpose

The CORE program invites applications of scientists for short term visits to study the globally and regionally important biological and paleontological collections of the Oberösterreichische Landes-Kultur GmbH (OÖLKG), Austria. The program aims at further enhancing the institution’s role as a center of collection-based biodiversity research (e.g. taxonomy, phylogenetics etc.). It also complements the OÖLKG´s engagement in CETAF (Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities) and DiSSCo (Distributed System of Scientific Collections) at the European level.

Target group

Eligible applicants include PhD students, postdocs and other scientists based outside Austria with documented research record.

Grant scope

  • free accommodation at OÖLKG guest rooms for the duration of the research stay
  • travel costs
  • daily allowances of €400 per week (only for applicants not permanently employed or freelance)

Collections available

The OÖLKG natural history collections comprise over 15 million historical and recent objects covering the fields of botany, zoology, and palaeontology.

  • Botany collection: Over 1.2 million objects of plants and fungi, with focus on (Upper) Austria, Costa Rica, Europe and the Mediterranean and Turkey.
  • Invertebrate collection (excluding insects): Approximately 8.5 million objects, including extensive global collections of Mollusca and Protista as well as smaller ones representing a range of other invertebrate taxa.
  • Entomology collection: Around 5.5 million objects, with a strong focus on the order Hymenoptera.
  • Vertebrate collection: More than 45000 objects with a focus on Upper Austria, especially birds and mammals.
  • Geosciences collection: Core collection of over 60,000 objects with focus on vertebrate fossils from the Northern Alpine Foreland Basin, as well as Mesozoic cephalopods from the Northern Calcareous Alps; a highlight acquired recently is the collection Schaffer.

Project Period: Projects should start from January and must be completed within the calendar year 2026 (within that period, visits can be arranged freely in accordance with the host at OÖLKG).

for participating in the CORE grant program

Eligible applicants include PhD students, postdocs and other scientists based outside Austria with documented research record.

Applicants are asked to complete a short research proposal and upload it to the submission platform. The proposal should be composed of the following:

  • Project description (max. 2 pages, A4) including:
    - Context, objectives and significance of the proposed research, relevance of OÖLKK collections, research methods to be employed
    - Any planned collaboration with OÖLKG scientists (if applicable)
  • Short Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages, A4)
  • List of publications

Approval of proposed projects depends on the budget available and the quality of the proposal. Evaluation will be based on both the quality of the proposed research and the feasibility of the project. Preference will be given to proposals that:

  • Clearly demonstrate the essential role of OÖLKG collections in the research
  • Contribute to the value of OÖLKG collections, such as through specimen identification, curation, digitalisation, or generation of new data through publications.
  • Support or initiate collaboration with OÖLKG scientists

By accepting the scholarship, recipients agree to present their project and its (expected) outcomes in context of their research during their stay. Additionally, a brief final report (maximum 3 pages) detailing their research results must be submitted no later than three months after the conclusion of their residency. All project outcomes—such as publications, datasets, or other relevant outputs—must be shared with the OÖLKG upon their release.
